Hurricane Michael hit the Florida Panhandle with avengence, and some of ThermApparel's family and friends live within its path. We hope everyone is safe and sound.

Usually once a month we post a blog about other uses for our UnderCool Cooling Vest and the Cooling Packs. With Michael heading for shore we couldn't help but think of Rhonda's email to us last fall in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

 "I live in Fort Myers FL and I was without power for 5 days and our community was flooded after the hurricane. The temperature was in the mid to high 90's with high humidity. Not only was I not able to leave my home because of the flooding, I had no power, therefore, no A/C and no refrigerator or freezer for those 5 days.

 Because your cooling packs are made from the special phase change material, they did not require a freezer. I have two sets of cooling packs and was able to recharge the cooling packs by placing them with the bags of ice and the frozen water bottles I prepared. I had other water-based cooling packs that were in the freezer that had all melted. I don't know what I would have done without your PCM cooling packs!!!"

The freezing temperature of our packs is extremely helpful in these dangerous situations. They will stay frozen at higher temperatures making them still usable for some time after ice packs melt. No power for your refrigerator or freezer? As long as the fridge/freezer is cooler than room temperature the packs will still recharge back to their solid "state" and be ready to go. Remember the packs can be "charged/frozen" the fastest by putting them in ice water for 15-20 minutes. Please take this opportunity to plan ahead for the next few days.
