Let's Go Swimming

Whether you live right on the beach or not, summer is definitely the time for fun in the water! Grab your favorite fruity drink and settle in for a day by the shore!

Rule #1: Know your shore

Every beach, pool, lake, and water park is different. No matter where you're going, make sure to plan your trip ahead of time to ensure you have the most relaxing experience possible. 

Rule #2: Bring reinforcements

Always travel with plenty of water, sunscreen, and towels. (After all, you never know what might happen!) Hydrate and take a break from the water every hour or so. And don't forget to reapply sunscreen every two hours!

Rule #3: Watch what you eat

Swimming, while fun and relaxing in cool water, is still a physical activity, and under the stress of the sun, it's important to properly feed your body throughout the day. Avoid caffeine and alcohol (never drink and swim!) and other sugary substances. Choose foods that are high in protein and easy to digest. And make sure to wait after you eat before going back in the water!

Rule #4: Properly rinse and dry yourself off

To avoid rashes from sand or exposure to strong salts and chemicals, always rinse yourself off with fresh water before heading home. No one likes being wet for long periods of time (it's bad for you and your car) so make sure to properly dry off too while you're at it!
